Boy Scout Troop 1195 is a unit of the Bull Run District of the National Capital Area Council of Scouts. We are chartered by Coles District Volunteer Fire Department and meet at the fire department building at 13712 Dumfries Road in Manassas, Virginia (near the intersection of Rt. 234 and Hoadly Road) on Thursdays evenings at 7 p.m.
We are a boy run troop. To encourage and nurture leadership skills, the adults in the troop supervise, but do not lead the scouts in their advancement in ranks. Like dens in the Cub Scout program, our boys are divided by age into patrols of 6 to 8 boys. New Scout patrols have a senior Boy Scout assigned as a guide and an Assistant Scoutmaster assigned to help guide first-year advancements.
In addition to weekly troop meetings, we have a monthly campout year round and participate in summer camp at Camp Olmsted on the Goshen Scout Reservation.
